Meet Rachel Cuevas
Rachel Cuevas is a working mom and community advocate running for Pennsylvania State Representative in District 187. Raised in a military family and shaped by years of hands-on experience helping people find work, Rachel is running to ease the burden on working families across the Lehigh Valley.
A Family Rooted in Military Service
Rachel's father served 20 years in the U.S. Army, and her mother served in the U.S. Air Force. Growing up in a military family instilled in Rachel an early understanding of sacrifice, discipline, and service to community — values that continue to guide her today.
Coming Home to Pennsylvania
After her father's retirement from the Army, Rachel's family settled in Bath, Pennsylvania. Despite his years of service, her father struggled to find employment — a reality that many veteran families know all too well. During that difficult time, Rachel watched local leaders step up to help her family, an experience that shaped her lasting appreciation for public service. Growing up in a household managing limited finances gave Rachel a strong desire to empower working people, a motivation she has carried into every part of her career.
A Career Built Around Helping People Find Work
Rachel has spent her career as a Human Resources professional at Amazon and Boston Beer. In those roles, she worked to connect "veterans, women, folks without a high school diploma, and people from all walks of life" with meaningful employment opportunities.
Rachel's career reflects "a deep commitment to helping veterans and people from nontraditional backgrounds find work."
Home in Alburtis
Today, Rachel lives in Alburtis, Pennsylvania with her husband and two children. Like so many families in the Lehigh Valley, she balances work and family life while staying deeply connected to her community.
Why Rachel Is Running
Rachel is running for State Representative because she wants to "get to work with both parties to ease the burden on working families, expand access to affordable healthcare and household basics." She is also committed to protecting the region from "price-gouging corporations, big box warehouses, and data centers" that threaten the character of Lehigh Valley communities.
